4 killed, 20 injured in twin blasts

QUETTA: Four people were killed and 20 injured in twin blasts along Zarghoon (double) road here Wednesday afternoon. A fire broke out after these explosions in which several vehicles and shops were damaged. According to details a big explosion occurred when explosive device planted in a bicycle exploded at Zarghoon road here this afternoon. When people gathered for rescue activity, another explosion took place due to blast of gas cylinder in a vehicle. A fire broke out which caught several vehicles and shops. Window panes of nearby shops were also shattered. In the second explosion relief workers were also injured. Fire brigade was called which fought the flames and controlled them after some time.

Four people were killed and 20 injured in the explosions. Condition of five injured is stated to be serious and there is apprehension of increase in death toll.

Police and Security forces rushed to the scene and supervised rescue activities. Dead and wounded were shifted to civil hospital. Despite strike doctors reached the hospital and attended to injured persons. Senior police and administration officers reached the hospital and monitored treatment of injured people. Police and security forces encircled the hospital from all sides.

Police and security forces carried out search operation in the vicinity after the twin explosions.

Capital City Police Officer Abdul Razzaq Cheema told that explosion was carried out with planted device.

Provincial Home Secretary Asad Gillani said he was thankful to doctors who attended patients of explosion despite their strike.
