41% Pakistanis say both men and women should raise children but emphasize on women; 31% say both equally, Poll

Islamabad: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 41% Pakistanis say both men and women should raise children but emphasize on women; 31% say both equally.

A nationally representative sample of men and women, from across the four provinces was asked” In your opinion should men or women raise children?”  Responding to this, 16% said only women, 41% said both men and women, but primarily women and 3% replied men only. 7% were of the opinion that both should raise children but men should more and 31% said both equally. 2% did not respond.

The study was released by Gilani Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International.

The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2629 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during Jan 20, 2014 – Jan 27, 2014. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
