A Daska based consumer Muhammad Iftikhar said that he had applied for gas connection several years ago, but the gas connection in his name had been given to another person in his street and now he had been wandering and become a rolling stone between the SNGPL offices in Daska, Sialkot and Gujranwala for rectification. He said that none was ready to accept his responsibility for this official mistake.

She wanted to know the status of her application given several years ago to get gas connection.

When contacted, Hafiz Muhammad Jawad in charge Sales SNGPL office Sialkot told the newsmen that the number of the applicants was growing day by day and the SNGPL office Sialkot was unable to meet the growing demand of the people by exceeding the annual SNGPL capacity of the issuing the sui-gas connections.

He said that the SNGPL Sialkot had received as many as 70000 total applications for gas connections since 2009 to till now, out of which the SNGPL Sialkot has issued 23000 gas connections to applicants in Sialkot district’s all the four Sialkot , Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur tehsils, in this regard. However, 47000 applicants were still pending in this regard.

Relying to a question, he said that all the pending applications submitted to this office before the 2009 by the people of Sialkot district had been expired and the SNGPL office Sialkot officials had cancelled most of the said old applications after an announcement (probably appeared in any Urdu national daily). The number of the said cancelled old applications was also in thousands. The majority of the affected applicants were of the view that the SNGPL Sialkot officials were now telling them upon their visit to Sialkot SNGPL office that their applications had been cancelled.
