Peshawar: The 5th Empress Razia Sultana Basic Life Support training programme was held at Khyber Teaching Hospital on Monday. The aim of the course was to create awareness among the community, practitioner and doctors about the basic aid to be given to the patients before taking them to the hospital.
A batch of 14 candidate were trained in BLS measures including Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation CPR and by the end of the training a written test was conducted which was subsequent to a pretest. Most of the candidate improved their result as compared to pretest which meant success of the course and keen interest of the participants.
The facilitators of the BLS course were Prof. Dr. Saima Gillani, Dr. Ambar Ashraf, Dr. Akbar Shah I/C Casualty, Dr. Asad Maroof and Dr. Shereen.
Yaseen Khalil MPA was chief guest on the occasion and distributed certificates among the participants. Chief Executive of KTH/KMC/KCD Dr. Umar Ayub Khan said that in the light of insurgency in the province including rapidly increasing terrorist activities, these kinds of courses were of great importance and KTH became the first pioneer hospital to start these courses.
Dr. Umar said most of the patients died before reaching the hospital and the aims and objectives of this training to reduce the death casualties and trained the individuals, how first aid to be given to the patients in emergency, that his life would be survived. He added that the training series would continue and at least hundred participants would be trained in a few months.
