Ratodero, Sindh: Fifth death anniversary of slain PPP Chairperson Ms. Benazir Bhutto will be commemorated in a befitting manner on 27th amid tight security arrangements. SSP Larkana has already imposed section 144 since December 20, which will remain enforced till 28th December under which no heavy transport will be allowed to move on all routs leading to Garhi Khuda Bux.
All schools, closed due to winter vacations have been handed over to authorities to house policemen arriving here from all over the province including Shahdadpur and Saeedabad police training centers.
President Asif Zardari and his son PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari are expected to address mammoth gathering of party workers. PPP expects more workers than before. The Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH) authorities have already issued a VVIP medical cover schedule and formed medical teams consisting of senior & junior doctors to provide round the clock medical cover to the workers in two shifts who are expected to participate in the anniversary programs from all four corners of the country in large numbers to show party’s strength.
CMCH authorities have declared three-day emergency in the hospital and banned all kinds of leaves to its employees working in all wards & departments excluding administration block. The 68 doctors and 139 paramedical staff have been deployed to provide medical cover at Garhi Khuda Bux & Naudero House and five medical camps will be established in GKB.
Sources at the hospital told that the duties of senior doctors working under the administrative control of Principal, Chandka Medical College, have not been fixed as they want to remain on-call during the mega event instead of sitting in the camps or in ambulances waiting for patients.
Traffic arrangements will be taken over by traffic police of Karachi that will also bring all required equipment and vehicles including lifters and barriers with them as in the past anniversaries.
About 6800 policemen and police officers including AIGs, DIGs and SSPs excluding Rangers and other security agencies will be deployed to provide strict security to the workers. Policemen will be deployed on all routes leading to Naudero and Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto. Walk through gates, CCTV cameras will also be installed. Sniffing dogs and bomb disposal squad will clear be entire premises. Separate parking arrangements have been made for which nearby agricultural lands have been acquired from the growers which have been leveled. Sindh’s Inspector General of Police will himself monitor the security arrangements.
Sanitation staff of various taluka municipal committees has already arrived in GKB and Naudero along with fire brigade vehicles and started cleaning the streets and roads in these two areas for the visiting VVIP guests, chief ministers, governor, dignitaries, ministers, national & provincial assembly members and PPP top leadership.
