6 killed, 50 injured in bomb explosion

QUETTA: As many as six persons including a policeman were killed and 50 sustained injuries in a remote control bomb explosion in front of City Police Station here Thursday afternoon.

According to details terrorists planted a remote control bomb in a bicycle and left it in front of City Police station Liaqat Bazaar here this afternoon. It exploded and caused massive destruction.

It is most congested area and because of eid days there was heavy rush of buyers. People started hue and cry after the explosion and a severe fear gripped the area. Several shops were damaged. Several vehicles including 2 rickshaws, 3 motorcycles, 2 bicycles and others were badly damaged. A pole truck also caught fire after explosion. Windowpanes of large number of shops in the area were broken. Police Station building was also damaged in the explosion.

Explosion claimed lives of 6 people including a police man and a boy while 50 others were also injured including women children and police men. Bomb disposal squad was also called. According to BDS 5/6 Kg explosive was used for the explosion.

Heavy contingent of police and Security forces rushed to the scene and shifted dead and injured to hospital. An emergency was declared at civil hospital and even morning staff which had left duty was called again for duty.
