66% Pakistanis are of the opinion that NATO supply should be blocked if the US does not cease the drone attacks,Poll

Islamabad: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 66% Pakistanis are of the opinion that NATO supply should be blocked if the US does not cease the drone attacks. However, 27% Pakistanis believe that drone attacks will increase once NATO supply is blocked.

A nationally representative sample of men and women, from across the four provinces was asked “Some people think that if America does not stop the drone attacks then the NATO supply should be blocked while others think that NATO supply should continue.

What is your opinion?” Responding to this, 66% wished for the NATO supply to be stopped whereas 19% believed it should continue. 15% did not respond.

The individuals were further asked: “Some people think that stopping NATO supply will stop the drone attacks while others think that drone attacks would increase and others say that stopping the NATO supply will have no effect on the drone attacks. What is your opinion?” In response, 27% said the attacks will increase, 36% said they will decrease while 36% believed there will be no difference. 1% did not respond.

The study was released by Gilani Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2533 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during November 10, 2013 – Nov 16, 2013. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
