7.7 earthquakes shakes Quetta, other parts

QUETTA: A major 7.7 intensity earthquake shook Quetta Valley and other parts of Balochistan Tuesday afternoon. Seismic Centre Pakistan Meteorological Department Islamabad told PPI by telephone that a major earthquake measuring 7.7 on Richter scale jolted Quetta Valley and other parts of Balochistan including Kalat, Khuzdar, Awaran at 1630 hours today. Its epicentre was located 120 Km southwest of Khuzdar and it was 10 Km deep.

In Awaran Central Balochistan a number of houses were razed to the ground while walls of several houses were damaged. Several people were also injured. However there was no report of any casualty.

People in fear and panic came out of their houses and shops and recited Quranic verses and Kalima Tayyaba.
