ADB delegation calls on CM Advisor Rafaqatullah Babar

Peshawar: In order to resolve the issues of traffic in the provincial metropolis and to provide improved facilities of transport to its dwellers, work on a feasibility study of Mass Transit System for the City has been started by Asian Development Bank. This was disclosed in a call on meeting of a delegation of ADB with Advisor to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Economic Development, Rafaqatullah Baber in Peshawar.

The delegation was led by team leader ADB Mr. Peter Turner. During the meeting, besides financial, social, environmental and technical aspects of the proposed project, action plan for its implementation were discussed threadbare.

Mr. Rafaqatullah Babar termed the Mass Transit System as inevitable for the durable solution of the ever increasing traffic issues of Peshawar and said that if the project was like a life line for the city without which the city would be gridlocked; and as such Chief Minister Pervez Khattak took keen interest in the project adding that the provincial government is fully committed to utilize all available resources to implement the project.

He asked the ADB team to arrange a detailed briefing encompassing all aspects of the project to be given to the next meeting of the concerned steering committee in which all the high ups of the relevant govt departments and other stake holders would participate.
