Islamabad: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir AJK Prime Minster Chaudhry Abdul Majeed has attended the absentia funeral prayer of Muhammad Afzal Guru held outside the National Press Club on Sunday.
Kashmir Liberation Front Leader Yasin Malik had also attended the funeral prayer for the Kashmiri fruit vendor who was hanged by India on Saturday for his involvement in botched attack on Indian Parliament in 2001.
Addressing a procession before the funeral prayer, Yasin Malik said that Guru’s hanging dented India’s democracy and constitution. Yasin Malik said that hanging of Guru in Tihar Jail mysteriously was an expression of extreme despotism and tyranny by the Government of India. He said that this action has deeply hurt the sentiments of million Kashmiri people.
JKLF leader said that Guru was hanged under draconian law and claimed that courts in India are not free and independent and nobody should expect any justice from those courts, added. He urged upon Indian civil society and international community to take notice of Guru death. AJK prime minister said that a complete strike would be observed in Azad Kashmir against Guru’s execution.
It was pertinent to mention here that Muhammad Afzal Guru was hanged in a top secret operation by Indian authorities on Saturday morning. Afzal Guru, who was convicted of plotting the 2001 attack on the Indian parliament, was hanged at 8:00am inside Delhi’s Tihar Jail.
