All Karachi Bilingual Declamation Contest

Karachi: The 20th All Karachi Bilingual Declamation Contest 2013 was held at Defense Authority College for Women Ph VIII here Thursday.

Ms Ameena Saiyed, Managing Director Oxford University Press was the chief guest.

Two students each from leading universities and colleges of the metropolis participate in the declamation. They spoke on various contemporary subjects in English and Urdu languages before the audience in the jam-packed college auditorium.

Ms. Saiyed lauded the tremendous potential, versatile oratory skills and intellectual ability of students and described them as simply impressive. She said that a good orator puts his or her soul into the words. She said Public Speaking was an art and an important ingredient of human personality. She advised the students that while speaking they should be rational in their arguments and focus on the relevance of the given topic.

Earlier, Dr Farhat Agha, Principal DHA College for Women Ph-VIII in her welcome address said that the College provided intellectually vibrant and academically sound environment to develop all round confident personalities of young girls so that they could face the onslaught of challenges in their future life successfully.

In the English Declamation Contest Nabiha Zeeshan of PAF KIET grabbed the first position, Rafah Shaheed of DA Public School O&A Levels was declared second while Talha Saleem of Bahria College Karsaz won the third position.

In the Urdu Declamation first position was won by Syed Umme Aymen of NUST, Muhammad Fahad Saleh of DA SKBZ College got the second position while Ali Muhammad of PAF KIET was declared third. Overall trophy of the Declamation Contest was given to PAF KIET.

In the end the chief guest distributed certificates and shields among the participants of the declamation contents. The Principal of the College presented a shield to the chief guest.
