KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain and Pakistan People’s Party Chairperson Asif Zardari on Tuesday contacted with one other over telephone and discussed ongoing law and order situation in Karachi and alleged torture of MQM activists during custody of law enforcement authorities.
According to a handout issued by MQM on Tuesday, Altaf Hussain told Asif Ali Zardari regarding extra-judicial killings of MQM activists, arrests of MQM activists and sympathizers and their torture during arrest.
MQM chief said that 45 activists including three sector members had gone missing after they were arrested. He said that the law enforcement personnel were involved in not only carrying out illegal raids on MQM activists’ houses but also elders and young members of their families were taken into custody over absence of activists.
He said that the authorities had also inquired regarding addresses of women wing activists, which was a shameful act.
