Army chief visits Combat Training area

QIETTA: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif visited Combat Training Area in Quetta Cantt Thursday where specialized anti-terrorism training is being imparted to personnel of Balochistan Police and Balochistan Constabulary.

Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Nasser Khan Janjua and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.

Currently, 200 individuals of Police and Balochistan Constabulary were being imparted training by Pakistan Army’s Southern Command. Eight week long course here will conclude on 7 Feb.

COAS appreciated the standard of training imparted by the team and enthusiasm displayed by trainees. He expressed hope that these trained persons will play an important role in combating the menace of terrorism in the Province.

He reiterated that Pakistan Army will provide maximum assistance in enhancing the capacity of Balochistan Police to ensure peace in the Province. Three more courses will be run by Pakistan Army this year for Police and Balochistan Constabulary.

Earlier last year Pakistan Army provided 5000 weapons and 5 lakh ammunition to Balochistan Police besides imparting training to 200 Police men to enhance their capacity in anti-terrorism. The trained force now comprises Anti Terrorist Force Balochistan and has displayed good performance in last few months after the training.
