Asad Rauf dropped from ICC Elite Panel of Umpires

Karachi: ICC on Tuesday announced that Pakistani umpire Asad Rauf, who is allegedly involved in IPL spot fixing scandal, omitted from the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires.

ICC announced that two new umpires will join the Elite Panel Australia’s Paul Reiffel and England’s Richard Illingworth both former Test cricketers. They will replace Billy Bowden and Rauf.

ICC, however, said that Rauf’s omission from the panel had nothing to do with his name allegedly linked to spot fixing.

Rauf was withdrawn by ICC from the Champions Trophy after he was alleged to have received gifts from Indian bookies during the sixth edition of IPL.
