KARACHI: Bahria University Management Sciences Department organized a heart touching and soul reviving event entitled “Enlightened Youth” at Bahria University Auditorium recently, a part of Bahria Community Support Programme 2013, in partnership with Friends of Burns Centre (FOBC), Civil Hospital Karachi.
The event provided an outstanding opportunity for both the senior and young social activists to share their experiences in making an effort to save the lives of less privileged members of the society. Keynote speakers included Mr. Abdullah Feroz (President-FOBC), Ms Arjumand A. Qazi (VP-FOBC), Capt. Mohsin Hayat Malik TI(M)PN (Director-Bahria University, Karachi Campus, Ms. Farheen Iqbal (HR Manager-HealthTV) and Shoukat I. Khattak (Bahria University Community Support Programme Coordinator, Management Sciences Department).
The FOBC officials deeply appreciated and acknowledged all the 250 students and the management officials from the Management Sciences Department at Bahria University Karachi Campus, who played an outstanding role in creating burns care & safety awareness among 12,000 community members, as part of their 40 hours mandatory community service. In addition to community awareness, the students also raised more than Rs. 140,000 for the poor and needy patients at the Friends of Burns Centre, CHK.
The Director, Bahria University Karachi Campus also expressed his gratitude to the guest and all the stakeholders of Bahria Community Support Programme, for their endless dedication, passion and extended support in making it a huge success. Further, he assured that the Bahria University Karachi Campus will not only lead but also touch new heights in the arena of community development and youth engagement.
Later, the Director-BUKC presented the cheque of Rs. 140,000 to Abdullah Feroz, President FOBC.
An interactive question-answer session held at the end of this event offered both the guest and young social activist the chance to explore the challenges faced in the quest for societal development and the untapped opportunities in the sphere of Social Entrepreneurship.
