Ban imposed on unnecessary transfer of Investigation Officers probing cases of heinous crimes

Karachi: Inspector General of Police, Sindh, Fayyaz Ahmed Laghari has ordered imposing ban on unnecessary transfer of investigation officers assigned with probing the heinous crimes.

“It is very much essential that the officers who initiated the investigation of such cases, continue with it and finally submit the Challans of cases in the concerned courts so that the cases could come to logical end,” he said in directives issued to the police officers during a meeting at the central police office.

IGP said that it requires time for a new investigation officer to understand the case owing to which he faces problems during the hearing of case.

He directed further not to assign investigation officers for any security duty so that they could focus on probing the cases.

IGP Laghari said the investigation into cases of kidnapping for ransom, target killings, murder, killings during robbery and such other heinous crimes would be joint responsibility of respective Station House Officers and Investigation Officers.

He directed the zonal DIGs and SSPs to hold case to case review of all the investigation matters and submit the detailed report of review meeting. He asked all the SSPs of Investigation to take along Forensic Division from the start of investigation into heinous crimes and ensure strict implementation on directives and observations of courts during the hearing of such cases.

IGP called for assigning senior and experienced officers for investigation and arrange short term training courses/workshops for other officers so that they could learn probing the cases on modern and scientific lines using the modern equipment.

Additional IG Karachi Iqbal Mahmood, Zonal DIGs, DIG Headquarters, all SSPs of Investigation and SHOs of Karachi attended the meeting.
