Body formed to review proposed privatization of hospitals’ units

Karachi: Five medical organizations have joined hands to resolve the problems being faced by patients, doctors, paramedical staff, nursing staff, lady health workers and clerical staff at healthcare centres in Sindh Province.

An emergency meeting of five medical organizations, including Doctors Welfare Association (DWA), All Sindh Nursing Association (ASNA), Pakistan Paramedical Staff Association (PPSA), All Pakistan Lady Health Workers Association (APLHWA) and All Pakistan Clerk Association (APCA) was held at Sindh Government Services Hospital Karachi.

A Joint Action Committee has also been formed to review the problems being faced by patients at healthcare centers. It will also review proposed privatization of different departments of hospitals as well as their own role for betterment of medical services to patients.

It was also decided in the meeting that proposed privatization of hospitals’ departments is not acceptable at any cost and strong protest would be launched across Sindh province against expected privatization of institutions in province.

The next meeting of committee would be held on 19 February 2014 at Sindh Government Services Hospital Karachi.

President PPSA Sindh Niaz Hussain Bhutto, President PPSA Karachi Nazeer Abbasi, Dr Nisar Ali Shah of DWA, Ejaz Ali of ASNA, Haleema Leghari of APLHWA and Oman Ali Shah Mishwani of APCA attended the meeting.
