Bribe: Inquiry ordered against two ASIs

Karachi: The Sind High Court SHC on Wednesday directed additional inspector general of police legal to conduct an inquiry into allegations of extorting money from brother of detained persons by the two assistant sub inspectors.

Headed by Chief Justice Mushir Alam, the division bench was seized with the petition of Inayat Ali, who had contended that custom officials with other law enforcing agencies had picked up his two brothers on January 8, 2013.

He informed the court that detainees have been released. He alleged that ASI Rana Muhammad Hanif along with ASI Aijaz had extorted money for release of detainees.

Earlier, the court ordered these two assistant sub inspectors to appear in court and submit their reply regarding allegations levelled by the petitioner against them but they did not appear. Expressing annoyance over attitude of the police officials, the court issued notice to AIG legal to conduct inquiry into the allegations by the petitioner.
