Karachi: A broken bridge of a Nullah on a busy street behind Sindh Secretariat has become a trap for bikers, resulting in accidents almost on daily basis.
The Nullah behind the Tughlaq House is partly covered with RCC top and partly with large cemented slabs. These slabs are removed to clean the Nullah especially during monsoon season. However, last year one of these slabs went broken during Nullah clearing but the concerned municipal officials did not replace it, leaving a gap on the Nullah. Motorists, especially bikers, often miss this gap and face accidents almost on daily basis.
Moreover, the overflowing liter of a garbage -collection site on the other end of the Nullah also drop into the Nullah through this wide gap, resulting in its choking up. Nearby streets also face problems due to the choked gutter system.
The citizens have requested Sindh minister for local bodies, Sindh chief secretary and municipal officers of Saddar town and other concerned officials to order covering the open gap of Nullah by placing another cemented slab to save citizens from unnecessary problems.
