KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi on Tuesday stressed the need to enhance tree plantation and greenery in the metropolis to overcome rising pollution affecting the citizens.
“There is need to save mangroves from timber and land mafia as they protect the city from high tides & storm and also secures sea life,” he said while addressing a sapling planting gathering in honour of late Sadia Siddiqui at commissioner office on the occasion the tree plantation ceremony organized by Karachi Journalists Welfare Association.
“The trees and forests play vital role in ending pollution. The rising trend in environmental, air and noise pollutions is the matter of grave concern,” the commissioner said.
He said that the citizens had been hit by respiratory diseases due to rising air pollution, hence, there is need to take effective steps on priority basis to end all pollutions.
