Call to repatriate Dr Aafia

KARACHI: Aafia Movement Global office held a meeting on the repatriation of the Daughter of the Nation, Dr Aafia. Various Movement activists updated the group on their countrywide activities and Dr Fowzia, Aafia’s sister, informed them of her discussions with JI Ameer Munawar Hassan and PTI Chief Imran Khan during their visit to Karachi.

Both have demanded prompt action to repatriate Dr. Aafia. PTI chief also expressed concern and plans to visit Aafia’s ailing mother during his next visit.

Dr Fowzia also informed: “She is going to Islamabad this week in the hope that the cabinet will take notice and that the government will cooperate with her. I hope government shows a determined resolve to move forward positively.” She said our history is witness that taking steps to free a captive woman liberates Nations and glorifies their status and dignifies honour.

This does not need extraordinary efforts or physical exercises but a pure conscience with an honourable heart with courage.

Mumtaz Piracha of good governance said the government should act in accordance with the SHC decision otherwise the time has come to hold them in contempt.

Pasban President Altaf Shakoor said from September we will launch a countrywide campaign’ seconded by Voice of Youth Pakistan and all others. The group expressed concern over the sincerity of the government since the Cabinet is in session but Aafia’s case has not been put forward as promised.
