Christmas celebrated in Karachi with traditional fervour

Karachi: The religious festival of Christians, Christmas, was celebrated in Karachi on Tuesday like other parts of the country.

People dressed in red coats, caps and white beards, to depict the famous character, Santa Claus doled out gifts and sweets to children, while special services were held in churches. Special prayers were offered for peace, progress and prosperity of Pakistan.

A large number of people belonging to Christian community celebrated their religious festival with fervour and zeal.

Churches and localities of Christian citizens were decorated and illuminated with colourful lights. People exchanged greetings and cake-cutting ceremonies were held.

Strict security arrangements were made around churches. Police had devised specific security plans for the safety of the churches on the occasion.
