KARACHI: City hospitals have been receiving several measles cases, while process of vaccination continues, says medical official.Dr Khaleeq Ahmed Focal Person of Measles in Sindh Government Children Hospital said this hospital is receiving three to four children diagnosed with measles on daily basis. He, however, said dozens of children were also being vaccinated in the city. He claimed that 95 percent measles disease is controlled in last few weeks through proper vaccination and situation is in control now in the city.
He said early diagnose and proper treatment are necessary to save children from measles. He urged the government to continue vaccination till 100 percent control on this disease.
President Pakistan Pediatric Association Prof Dr Iqbal Ahmed Memon said people of the province actively vaccinated their children affected by measles and credit of this goes to media for creating awareness among masses about the disease. He said situation is now under control in Sindh, especially in Karachi and number of children suffering from measles has been decreasing day by day in the province.
He urged the government to compile the data of measles-affected children and the services of lady health should be utilized for this purpose. He also urged the government for continuation of measles vaccination till proper control on disease.
