Closure of UNHCR Voluntary Repatriation Centres during Eid

Islamabad: All registered Afghan refugees, holding Proof of Registration Cards, who are planning to return to Afghanistan from Pakistan under the UN Refugee Agency’s facilitated voluntary repatriation programme are hereby informed, that the return process at the UNHCR Voluntary Return Centres (VRCs) will be temporarily suspended on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha.

A release issued on Monday said that VRC, Chamkani in Peshawar and the VRC, Baleli in Quetta, Balochistan will remain closed from 14 October (Monday) until 19 October (Saturday). The return process at the VRCs will resume on 20 October (Sunday) 2013.

As per usual practice, Afghan refugees in Pakistan who wish to proceed through the VRCs in Pakistan after the facilitated return resumes, are encouraged to contact the UNHCR helpline for information, which is operational between 8am to 8pm before approaching the centres.
