Islamabad: Minister for Science and Technology, Zahid Hamid chaired first meeting of the Committee constituted by the ECC to review regulatory framework for International Non-Governmental Organizations INGOs working in Pakistan for facilitation of humanitarian and development work at the Economic Affairs Division.
The Committee decided that in line with the present government’s policy of good governance and transparency, it will undertake a transparent consultative process with all stakeholders in public and private sectors before finalizing its recommendations for consideration of the government.
The meeting was briefed about the current policy and legal framework and the proposals to bring improvement in this framework. The chairman of the committee noted that the objective of these improvements is to ensure that maximum transparency is achieved in the working of these international organizations and ensure that their work is in line with the reform initiatives of the government and humanitarian and development requirements of the country.
He further observed that the regulatory framework must facilitate the flow of resources to the appropriate sectors and must act as a help to these organizations who provide relief and development assistance to Pakistan.
