Cop, activist among 10 killed in Karachi violence

KARACHI: Ten people including, a policeman, an ASWJ activist and an alleged terrorist were killed and a man injured in separate incidents of violence in Karachi on Thursday.

According to rescue sources, unidentified men opened fire in Chakra Goth area of Korangi Town, killing two people. The deceased were identified as 32yearold Rizwan, son of Nadir Ali, and Ishaq, 25. The bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital ASH.

In another incident, two persons were killed after unidentified men opened fire on them near Quetta Town of Sohrab Goth area. They were identified as Tina, 16, and Zulfiqar, 26. The bodies were brought to the ASH.

Separately, a policeman, Inayatullah, son of Rasul Baksh, was gunned down in Sohrab Goth area. The body was shifted to the ASH.

Two bodies of unidentified men were recovered from Gulshan-i-Maymar area. The deceased were shifted to the ASH. According to a police official at Gulshan-e-Maymar Police Station, the deceased were identified as Kamran and Abdullah. “They were residents of Kati Pahari and were abducted from a bus on June 9, from Gulshan-i-Maymar area while travelling to Bajaur Agency.”

An alleged criminal was killed in Ittehad Town area of Baldia Town after three explosions in a house. According to the police, a hand grenade went off in the hand of the accused when he was making a terror plan in his house; resultantly he died on the spot. Finger prints of the alleged terrorist and his blood samples have been taken for several tests.

Police said that prior to the incident two hand grenades explosion also took place in the area while the third grenade exploded in the hand of accused. A 9mm pistol and magazine carrying 15 bullets also recovered from the possession of the deceased, police added. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi.

A body of an unidentified man was also recovered from Orangi Town area. It was shifted to the ASH.

A 40yearold person, Shafiq, son of Abdul Razzaq, was killed after unidentified men opened fire on him in Pahar Ganj area of Qasba Colony. He was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi. According to a police official at the spot,” Shafiq was an activist of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat ASWJ and was targeted in the area.”

Moreover, unidentified men opened fire in Haroonabad area of SITE, injuring Rafiullah, son of Karim. He was brought to Civil Hospital Karachi.
