Cop killed, three injured in separate incidents

Karachi: A policeman was killed and two others were wounded in different incidents in the city Monday.

A police constable, Farman, 35, son of Waheed, was killed and another policeman, Asghar Ali, wounded when their police mobile was attacked by unknown armed men in Malir within the remit of Malir police station in the wee hours of Monday.

Farman died of bullet while Ali was hit and injured by a hand grenade by the attackers. The body and injured were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre JPMC for an autopsy and treatment respectively.

Police said that unknown miscreants threw two hand grenades on the police mobile and also opened fire. The police have registered the case and started further investigation.

An alleged extortionist, Saifur Rehman, 28, alias Azmat, son of Umeruddin, was injured in an alleged police encounter in Abbas Town within jurisdiction of Sachal police station. However, his accomplice Imran managed to flee from the scene. The injured was rushed to Abbassi Shaheed Hospital ASH for treatment.

The police claimed Saifur Rehman and Imran demanded five lack rupees from Altaf, a scrap shopkeeper. Police told that Altaf was shot at and injured by the extortionists on the refusal to pay extortion money, and at that time police reached there.

The police also captured Saif. No FIR could be registered till filing this story.
