Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Health, Shaukat Ali Yousafzai has said that the corrupt system of governance and no provision of justice are the basic causes of psychiatry diseases in the country.
He said the current provincial government had taken immediate action to eradicate the corrupt system and to provide exemplary justice to the poor masses, but, he stressed, the nation must know that their problems would continue unless the system was changed.
This he said while addressing a seminar regarding “World Mental Health Day” held at Khyber Medical College Peshawar on Thursday. The seminar was also attended by Special Assistant to Chief Minister Dr. Mehr Taj Roghani, Principal Khyber Medical College, Dr. Noor ul Iman, political, social, media representatives and students of Khyber Medical College.
On this occasion, the speakers highlighted the reasons of psychiatry diseases and their preventive measures. The Health Minister Shaukat Yousafzai addressing the seminar said that country had sufficient resources but that had never been used for the welfare of public.
He said that the public needed to stand up against the corrupt system of governance that would only lead to add problems for our nation. He further said that provincial government was taking keen interest to facilitate the health sector. He assured that the Mental Health Act would also be implemented properly throughout the province.
Dr. Mehr Taj Roghani also addressed the seminar and stated that unpleasant environment and terrorism were major reasons of psychiatry diseases. The prevention of diseases should be ensured through awareness campaign throughout the province, she concluded.
The Health Minister and Dr. Mehr Taj Roghani were also presented shields on this occasion by the Principal Khyber Medical College Peshawar.
