Court: Shahzeb murder case: Sindh police arrest Sikandar Jatoi from outside SC

ISLAMABAD: The Sindh Police on Thursday took into custody Sikandar Jatoi, father of Shahrukh Jatoi, a principal accused of Shahzeb murder case, from outside the Supreme Court after he appeared in the hearing of Shahzeb murder case.

During the hearing of Shahzeb murder case, the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry observed that no one in the country was above the law and that Sikandar Jatoi should hand himself over to the police and assist the investigation.

A three-member bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Sh. Azmat Saeed also dismissed an application of senior advocate Abdul Hafeez Pirzada, who appeared for Sikandar Jatoi and requested the court to order police to not arrest Sikandar Jatoi until he reached Karachi.

The court directed Sikandar Jatoi to involve himself in the investigation of Shahzeb murder case and assist the investigation. “We cannot give any further or much more relief to Sikandar Jatoi”, the Chief Justice noted.

He said if police arrested Sikandar Jatoi from outside the court, the court had no concern with it. Appearing on notice, Advocate General Sindh Fateh Muhammad Malik told the court that non-bailable arrest warrants of Sikandar Jatoi had already issued.

He said concerned authorities were coordinating with the UAE government to arrest Shahrukh Jatoi to bring him back to Pakistan. During the hearing, Sikandar Jatoi told the court that his tv channel and cement factory was closed down.

The Chief Justice had taken suo moto notice into the murder of Shahzeb Khan, 20. He was brutally assassinated in Defense Housing Society Karachi on Dec 25, last year. Earlier on Jan 7, the court had directed the Inspector General Police Sindh to positively arrest Shahrukh Jatoi till January 10.
