Islamabad: Pakistan Embassy in collaboration with the Institute of Cultural Diplomacy organized a” Pakistan Cultural Evening” on the sidelines of International Tourism Trade Fair in Berlin, says a press release received here today from Berlin, Germany.
Speaking on this occasion, Minister for Planning and Development Department, Government of Gilgit Baltistan said that the northern areas of Pakistan were endowed with abundant natural resources and beautiful landscape, having a great potential of tourism and investment.
He invited the European people to explore one of the most beautiful landscapes on earth as well invest in infrastructure development of the area.
Chief Secretary of Gilgit-Baltistan, Mr. Sajad Saleem Hotiana made a presentation on the investment opportunities available in the tourism sector and fruit processing & preservation sector of the area. In his address, Ambassador Abdul Basit highlighted the diverse cultural heritage of the country and said that Pakistan was a land of two major ancient civilizations of the world and hospitable people.
Chief Executive of the Institute, Mr. Mark C. Donfried said that the Pakistan had a great potential of becoming a favourite destination for tourists. Development of infrastructure facilities for the tourists would go a long way to boost the tourism industry in the country, he added.
The participants were also shown a documentary movie, “Vibrant Pakistan” and entertained with Pakistani live music and cuisine. A Pakistan Corner showcasing handicrafts and embroidered home accessories besides books and brochures was also set up by the Pakistan Embassy.
