Culture (Youth festival created a new enthusiasm)

SIALKOT: Commissioner Gujranwala Division Khawaja Shamail Ahmed has said that Punjab Youth Festival has created a new enthusiasm, sportsman spirit, encouragement, tolerance and good mental thoughts in the young generation, as the youths, students and other people were showing their natural talent and skills by participating in these healthy activities.

Talking to the newsmen here, he said that the promotion of sports was vital to develop a healthy society through ensuring the provision of equal opportunities to the talented youths to shine.

Commissioner revealed that the Punjab Chief Minister’s Youth Festival Programme was a very important and having a great significance regarding the promotion of sports, games , extra curriculum and other healthy activities in the developing countries like Pakistan , as the 152,990 youths took part in street, Muhallah and vicinity level sports activities, while 149054 youths participated in the sports and games competitions held at union council level in Gujranwala Division’s all the six Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahaud Din, Hafizabad and Gujranwala districts here.

He said that the Punjab government had distributed prizes (worth of Rs. 5310250) amongst the local players who clinched remarkable positions during different sports activities held at street, Muhallah and vicinity level, besides, distributing the prizing amounting Rs. 8878080 amongst 2139 winning players who participated in sports and different games held at union council level under the Punjab Youth Festival.

Commissioner said that as many as 64577 players were registered for participating in different sports and games in Sialkot district out of which 23406 remained successful in their games held under the Punjab Youth Festival and the prizes worth of Rs.2387800 were distributed amongst them. As many as 6692 boys and girls students were registered for recitation of Holy Quran and Naat Sharif competitions in Gujranwala Division out of which 943 participants were given the prizes, he added.
