Day: Nation celebrates Independence Day today with enthusiasm

Islamabad: The nation will celebrate 66th Independence Day of Pakistan today Wednesday with enthusiasm and renewed commitment to safeguard the country against any threat.

The day will dawn with thirty one gun salute in the federal and twenty one gun salute at the provincial capitals. Special prayers will be offered for the prosperity‚ integrity and solidarity of the country‚ unity of the Muslim Ummah and for the success of the long drawn struggle of the Kashmiris after Fajr prayers.

The nation will pay tributes to its founding father Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah who single handedly attained this motherland by sheer hard work and struggle. Pakistan’s appearance on the map of the world was his great achievement for which the great Quaid would be remembered forever in the hearts of all communities of Pakistan.

The main function of the day will be the National Flag hoisting ceremony. Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif will unfurl the Flag at Jinnah Convention Centre, Islamabad. Similar ceremonies will be held at the Provincial Capitals.

Preparations in this regard have been completed in all cities and district of the country to celebrate Independence Day of Pakistan with traditional enthusiasm. A number of social, cultural and literary organizations and educational institutes have chalked out various programs to mark the day.

All important government buildings, including the Parliament House, Supreme Court of Pakistan, PM’s House, Presidency, Pakistan Secretariat and Faisal Mosque will be illuminated as part of the Independence Day celebrations. CDA will decorate all major roads and avenues with flags, banners and buntings to give a festive look to the city.

People especially children were fervently preparing for the day and they had bought national flags to hoist atop their homes and on bicycles, motorcycles and cars. Public and private buildings will be illuminated at night.

National and local newspapers will bring out special supplements to highlight salient features of Pakistan Movement and television and radio channels will broadcast special programmes on the day.
