Peshawar: Residents of Shiekh Mohammadi and its adjacent areas PK11 on Monday staged a protest demonstration against disruption of power supply and demanded of the government to repair the Sheikh Mohammadi grid station on early basis that was ransacked by militants on April 2.
Holding banners and placards, large number of residents of various villages including Sheikh Mohammadi, Mashogagar, Mashakhel, Rashid Garhi, Salman Khel and other areas gathered outside Cantonment Railway Station and shouted slogans against the government for failing to start repairing work on the gird station.
Talking to reporters, the protesters Waheed ullah and Niaz Muhammad said the government was least bothered to start repairing work on the grid station despite passage of three weeks after unknown miscreants torched it.
They lamented that people of the area were facing number of problems as electricity had been disrupted for the last three weeks.
They added tube wells in their areas had been closed down owing to disruption of power supply from the grid station that resulted in water shortage.
“Routine life has been paralyzed. Even there is no drinking water for us. Women, children and aged people are suffered due to nonavailability of electricity,” they lamented.
They asked the caretaker chief minister Justice R Tariq Pervez to take immediate step to repair the Shiekh Mohammadi grid station or provide them electricity from alternate sources within three days.
