Today, Deputy Secretary of State John J. Sullivan hosted Chinese Ambassador Cui Tiankai for lunch at the Department of State. The Deputy Secretary highlighted the importance of pursuing a constructive U.S.-China relationship that produces meaningful results. Deputy Secretary Sullivan also reaffirmed U.S. commitment to the final, fully verified denuclearization of the DPRK, as agreed to by Chairman Kim in Singapore and urged China to continue to fully implement all related UN Security Council Resolutions. The two discussed counternarcotics cooperation, the investigation into the serious health incident affecting a U.S. official in Guangzhou, the repatriation of illegal Chinese immigrants, and a range of other bilateral and regional issues.
