Saudi Arabia's Deputy Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance Tawfiq bin Abdulaziz Al-Sudairy stressed that dialogue between religious leaders will draw the path of peaceful coexistence among peoples and remove all causes of hatred.
This came in Al-Sudairy's statement to the Union of OIC News Agency (UNA) on the sidelines of the 6th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, held in Kazakhstan's capital Astana.
"Saudi Arabia's message is a message of love, peace and harmony, and a call for solidarity and coexistence among all religions and sects, he said, pointing out that the Kingdom always fights and counters racism and all causes of hatred among peoples.
He added that during the era of King Salman, the pace of hard work in the fight against hatred and racism has increased, in view of the worrisome global situation stemming from racist and sectarian causes as well as wars and conflicts, both in the Middle East region and elsewhere in the world. It was, therefore, necessary to promote this message and the call on the world's sage religious figures to meet and negotiate to set a track for coexistence among the peoples of the world.
Asked about the fruits of dialogue among religious leaders, Al-Sudairy said: "There is no doubt that a large percentage of the world conflicts are mostly religious, and therefore the leaders of the religions will have an influential role on the followers. Their presence at one table and their assertion on coexistence will have a major role in consolidating coexistence."
On the significance of the Kingdom's keenness to participate in the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions since its inception in 2003, the deputy minister said cited the strong existing relations between Saudi Arabia and Kazakhstan, as well as the joint cooperation agreements between them in various political and economic fields.
Al-Sudairy said Saudi Arabia's participation in the conference is a confirmation of its message of peace and love, stressing that the Kingdom is a leading advocate of dialogue and coexistence among peoples and followers of faiths. In this context, he said, Saudi Arabia has established local and international centers and contributed with other countries and organizations in consolidating the culture of dialogue, coexistence and love among people.
