District: DCO stresses upon need to promote awareness about dengue fever

Sialkot: District Coordination Officer DCO Sialkot Iftikhar Ali Sahu has stressed upon the need of promoting all the individual and joint special efforts to promote awareness about dengue fever in all segments of society especially among the students, enabling them to curb the menace of the dengue fever in the society.

He stated this while addressing the participants of an anti dengue awareness raising seminar held at Anwar Club auditorium Sialkot here today. Sialkot EDO Health Dr. Capt Rtd Zia ul Hassan and DHO Sialkot Dr. Javaid Warraich were also present on this occasion. The hundreds of the people also attended the seminar and they showed keen interest in this anti-dengue awareness and its preventive measures.

DCO said that the students and teachers could play their pivotal role in promoting the anti-dengue awareness, its hazards and the preventive measures as well in the society. He said that the PMLN government was striving to curb the menace of the dengue.

Iftikhar Ali Sahu added that the dengue is the most widespread mosquito borne infection in human beings, which in recent years has become a major international public health concern. Over the last 15 years, we have witnessed a dramatic increase in the global incidence of dengue and its severe manifestations such as dengue hemorrhagic fever. Dengue fever is a severe, flulike illness with fever, headache and muscle and joint pains that affects children and adults, but seldom causes death.
