District: Process of formation of LB Wards, rural UCs completed in Sialkot district

Sialkot: The district administration of Sialkot has completed conversion of urban union councils into the LB Wards and reformation of union council in rural areas of Sialkot district’s all the four Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur tehsils here, ahead of the coming Local Bodies Polls, in this regard.

Sialkot DCO Iftikhar Ali Sahu told the media persons at his office that the Sialkot will have its old status of Municipal Corporation while there will three Municipal Committees one each in Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur. He said that the conversion of urban union councils into LB Wards and re-formation of the rural areas’ union councils have been made purely on merit , keeping in view the maximum facilitation to the general public, in this regard.

In Daska, Assistant Commissioner Daska Ch. Zulfiqar Ahmed Bhoon said that as many as five urban union councils of Daska city now have been abolished and converted into 30 LB Wards in Daska city, while, as many as 29 union councils have been reformed in rural areas of Daska tehsil. The lists of new LB Wards and rural areas’ union councils have been displayed at the offices of the Assistant Commissioners (ACs) in Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur for public view.

In Sambrial, as many as 18 LB Wards have been formed in Sambrial city. According to the AC Sambrial, as many as 20 rural union councils have also been formed in Sambrial tehsil here. In Pasrur, as many as 26 LB wards have been created by shelving two urban union councils of Pasrur. According to the AC Pasrur Tauqeer Ilyas Cheema, the number of the rural union councils has been increased to 33 from 26 UCs.
