Karachi: Dow University of Health Science DUHS is organizing an international symposium on “Ramadan and Health” on 26th of October 2013 at Dow International Medical College, Ojha Campus Karachi.
This was announced by Pro Vice Chancellor DUHS Prof Dr Muhammad Umar Farooq in media briefing held at DUHS on Thursday. Chairman Symposium Prof Zaman Shaikh, Prof Nazeer Khan and Dr Muhammad Masroor were also present on this occasion.
Prof Umar Farooq said aim of this symposium is to share the research studies conducted by international and national researchers to understand the effect of Ramadan fasting on human health.
Prof Zaman Shaikh said most striking findings of researchers will be shared to both scientific and general audience in the form of state of art and plenary lectures, free papers and posters. He informed that international speakers are coming from various countries who have conducted several researches examining the effects of fasting on human health.
He said speakers will be sharing their findings on variety of different health related issues during fasting including Ramadan fasting related practices, fasting and feasting in Ramadan, physical activity during Ramadan fasting, management of hypertension and diabetes mellitus during Ramadan fasting, health related quality of life and many other commonly occurring health issues in relation to Ramadan fasting.
He said national speakers from nearly all corners of the country had also been invited to participate and present their work at the international event. He said international and local health experts would discuss the health issues faced by people during Ramadan and would presents the solution in this regard.
Prof Nazeer Khan said this international symposium will be graced by several national and international speakers including Prof Jasem Ramada, Prof Mohsen, Prof Javaid Akram, Prof AH Amir, Prof Zaman Shaikh, Prof Yaqoob Ahmadani, Prof Najamul Islâm, Prof Faisal Qureshi, Dr Khadija and Dr Shabeen Naz Masood.
