KARACHI: Election Commission of Pakistan ECP has accepted nomination papers of several Jamaat-e-Islami JI leaders.
According to JI release issued on Wednesday, ECP has approved the nomination papers of Muhammad Hussain Mehanti, Dr Mairajul Huda Siddiqui, Rashid Naseem, Laeeq Ahmed Khan and Syed Muhammad Iqbal for National Assembly seats, and Naseem Siddiqui, Nasrullah Shajih, Farooq Naimatullah and Manyam Zafar Khan for Provincial Assembly seats.
Talking to media, JI Karachi chief Muhammad Hussain Mehanti said that the day of May 11 would prove the day of elimination of terrorism and lawlessness from the city. The people will vote against terrorists and extortionists on May 11, he said.
He further said that the honest and sincere JI leadership would serve the people at every level, adding the performance of former JI mayors Abdul Sattar Afghani and Naimatullah Khan was innovative before the citizens.
“Naimatullah Khan is also contesting elections and all Karachiites are fully aware of the historic development in the city in his tenure as mayor,”” he added.
Mehanti said that the JI election campaign has been started and the workers & leaders are in contact with the people in their areas.
