Electricity in 17 distrits suspended

QUETTA: 17 districts of Balochistan plunged into pitch darkness when two towers of 220 kv transmission line collapsed TuesdayWednesday night due to strong winds and heavy rains. According to details on august 5 two towers of 220 kv transmlission line were damaged in terrorist act between mach and Sibi. Due to strong winds last night these towers collapsed and supply of electricity to 17 districts was suspended.

Supply was restored to Quetta form private Habibullah Coastal opwer house. At present Quetta and 17 districts were receiveign 120 mw electricity from GudduSibi transmission line. In view of this situation additional load shedding was being made. Due to no security clearance in tiem repair and restoration was started late.

It may be recalled here that on August 5 two towers of 132 kv and another two fo 220 kv transmission lines were blown between Sibi and Mach. Towers of 132 kv line were collapsed and supply suspended. 220 kv towers were partially damaged and these too fell last night due to strong winds.
