European Union delegation meets Sindh CM

KARACHI: Head of European Union delegation Lars Gunner Wigemark, Ambassador, on Saturday called on Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah at the CM House.

Principal Secretary to CM Muhammad Siddique Memon and Director General Protocol Dabeer were also present.

The chief minister welcomed the head of European Union delegation and apprised him of five-year performance, activities and achievements made in various sectors, particularly in the field of health, education, communication, agriculture, socio-economic betterment, employments, youth development and empowerment of women in various aspects.

He said that the present government is completing its constitutional tenure and the general elections are being held on schedule and time.

Earlier, Gunner thanked the chief minister for warm welcome and highlighted the role of European Union for the betterment of Pakistani people. He said that European Union would support the Sindh government for promotion of education, and code of conduct for media, while economic reforms would also be assisted. Gunner assured that EU would extend aid and trade, while the ban on fisheries would be positively considered.

He also assured that EU would fully support issues pertaining to alternate energy and technical education.

Shah thanked European Union for extending support to various sectors, particularly education.
