Farooqi elected KUJAA president

Karachi: Mehmood Farooqi and Abid Hussain have been elected as President and General Secretary of Karachi University Journalism Alumni Association KUJAA, respectively, during its election held here at Karachi Press Club.

The other office bearers who declared elected were Khalida Siddiqui and Omer Ansari as Vice Presidents, Dr. Fatima Hassan as Joint Secretary and Farooq Adil as Treasure.

For Managing Committee Prof. Inam Bari, Tariq Mehmood Mian, Nuzhat Shirin, Dr. Seemi Naghmana, Syeda Naqvi, Syed Muhammad Askari, Kokab Jehan and Talat Mehmood also elected.

Addressing to the KUJAA gathering, Dr. Tahir Masood, Chairman, Mass Communications Department, and Karachi University asked the newly elected office bearers to raise their voice against non-payment of salaries regularly to working journalists by various media houses.

He said that journalist organizations are also over this issue and not protesting against these injustices. He emphasized that it is the responsibility of KUJAA to give priority to work for the Welfare of journalists in coordination with other media organizations.

Earlier addressing to KUJAA members newly elected President, Mehmood Farooqi assured them to work for the welfare of its all members indiscriminately and to make this body an active media organization. He said that we will cooperate with Mass Communications Department to overcome its financial problems and for the overall improvement in education standard.

General Secretary Abid Hussain thanked KUJAA members for unusual interest in its election and to make it a success. He also thanked Chairman Election Committee, Nisar A. Zuberi, its members Prof. Dr. Tauseef Ahmad Khan and Mehmood Ghaznavi for holding free and fair election.
