Fauzia Khan’s art work charms visitors

KARACHI: On the occasion of World Environment Day, the National Forum for Environment & Health held a two-day exhibition of the works by Fauzia Khan at Arts Council of Pakistan. The purpose of this exhibition was to appreciate the beauty of natural landscapes and vegetation.

Haroon Agar, President KCCI, inaugurated the exhibition. Dr Kaiser Waheed, Chairman NFEH, Mohammad Naeem Qureshi, President NFEH, Atiqur Rahman, Raheela Firdaus, Ghulam Kibriya and others were also present at the occasion.

Chief guest at the occasion, Haroon Agar lauded the skills, talent, and observation of the artist. He stressed the need of business community to support such artists. He further added that artists are an important part of the society who use the medium of art to express themselves emotionally. He also pledged support for environment awareness activities on behalf of KCCI.

Kaiser Waheed and Naeem Qureshi also stressed the importance of the event with reference to the environment, and paid homage to the efforts of the artist. Fauzia Khan welcomed the guests, informing about the paintings. The exhibition was attended by representatives from various organizations.

Fauzia Khan is an artist of various disciplines. She first came into the art scene in 1991 when she took part in a two-person show at Gallery Sadequain. She has won numerous awards for her work. One of the paintings from this series, of trees forming Kalma-e-Tayyaba, which are present in Germany, won her a Sadequain Award in Calligraphy in 1998. Another painting of a tree in Lasdana Azad Kashmir forming the name Allah won her a second Sadequain Award in 2004.
