QUETTA: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has directed for immediate relief and rehabilitation of rain hit people in Balochistan immediately and all affectees should be provided possible relief.

This was stated by Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions Lt General R Abdul Qadir Baloch while addressing a briefing on rains and flood in Balochistan here Tuesday.

General Qadir Balch said he has arrived Quetta to review situation caused by rains and flood on the special directives of Prime Minister. He said Federal government fully realizes its responsibilities and flood affectees would be provided every possible assistance. He aid steps would be taken for water, health, electricity and road building. He aid facing natural calamities is not under control of human but owing to better strategy losses can be reduced greatly.

Balochistan Chief Secretary Babar Yaqoob Fateh Muhammad and Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority Khalid Baloch briefing the minister that Jhal Magsi district has been worst hit by recent rains while Loralai, Quetta, Khuzdar, Sibi, Nasirabad, Jaffarabad, Lasbella and Kech districts have also been affected. They told that 17 people have been killed in recent rains while large number of katcha houses have been affected. Animals have also killed while crops and gardens and orchards have also destroyed.

Minister was told that Gwadar-Turbat highway has been opened for traffic. Affectees have been provided with food items and tents while Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners were personally monitoring the relief activities.

Speaking on the occasion Qadir Baloch said Prime Minister is keenly interested in progress and prosperity of Balochistan and desires this province should catch up with other provinces at the earliest. He said he would personally visit rain and flood hit areas and see for himself situation arised out of floods and rains and losses caused. He said he would speak to Prime Minister and NHA officials over damages caused to national highway in Balochistan by rains. He said Balochistan has been provided sufficient funds after 18th amendment. If these are correctly used the province can made rapid strides.
