Karachi: Sindh Minister for Information and Archives Sharjeel Inam Memon in a statement has congratulated the textile sector for grant of GSP plus status to Pakistan by the European Union as it would help in tax free exports.
In a statement, the Minister pointed out that this step of the EU is in line with the vision of ex-president of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, who had envisaged the policy which has been completed now. The Minister further described this step as a corner stone for increase in Pakistan’s exports to EU, which were $6 billion last year and will increase exports of $1 billion additionally which would prove fruitful not only for the textile sector but for many other commodities which are exported from Pakistan to the EU. Minister congratulated the people of Pakistan, as GSP plus status to Pakistan would bring brighter prospects of raising exports of 3500 products through which business people would get benefit.
The Minister has expressed the hope that this step would increase access of Pakistani products to the European Markets for which there is a huge potential as EU trade concessions will generate significant economic activity.
