The Finance Ministry has neglected to build 800-bed Medical Tower at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Islamabad.
Preliminary analysis of Medical Tower has been conducted by Infrastructure Project Development Facility (IPDF) of Ministry of Finance, on the basis of PC-I (2006) of the project and feasibility study of PIMS National Institute of Dentistry (2009).
The estimated cost of the project was to be Rs 8.3 billion but no decision has been taken about it yet whereas population of capital has surpassed 5 million. This medical tower is to be comprised of 800 beds, 200 semi-private and private and two VIP rooms. Besides it, Medical and Dental School was also to be built but unfortunately it is ignored.
Media inquired the reason of negligence from Vice-Chancellor of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University on which he said that they are waiting for an approval from Finance Ministry.
