Five killed in firing in Karachi

Karachi: Five persons including an Assistant Sub-Inspector and a money changer lost the life in target killing incidents in different areas of city besides body of a newborn baby was found on Monday.

The 40-year Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Zulfiqar Ali S/o Ahmed was killed by unidentified armed men in Sherpao Colony Landhi Town in the limits of Quaidabad Police Station. The body of deceased was moved to Jinnah Hospital Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.

Police said he was on routine patrolling when unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate fires on him. He received seven bullets and died before he could be taken to hospital. The victim was posted at Quaidabad Police Station.

Separately, 28-year old trader Imran Yousuf S/O Younis was killed by the unidentified armed men in Bantwa Street Jodia Bazaar Kharadar in the jurisdiction of Kharadar Police Station. His security guard 25-year Shahzad was also injured in firing. The body and injured were rushed to Civil Hospital Karachi for autopsy and treatment.

Medico-Legal Officer said Imran received multiple bullet injuries and died before reaching to hospital while the condition of Shahzad is stated to be critical.

Police said victim was money exchanger by profession. The police have started further investigation to ascertain the motive behind the killing.

Similarly, two tortured bodies were found from garbage dumping point in Abbas Town, Abul Isphani Road in the jurisdiction of Sachal Police Station. The bodies were moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital Karachi for postmortem. One of deceased was identified as 35- years old Ismail S/o Abdul Ghani Odh, resident of Sikander Goth while the identity of other could not be ascertained.

Police said they were killed somewhere else and later thrown in said area.

Medico Legal Officer said victim Ismail had also received one bullet on his upper torso and second victim died due to sever torture.

Meanwhile, 30-year Hazrat Umer s/o Ameer was killed in firing by the unknown assailants near a Godown in Bin Qasim area in the limits of Bin Qasim Police Station. The body of deceased was moved to JPMC for legal formalities.

A body of newborn baby was found near Civil Hospital Karachi in the limits of Eidgah Police Station. The rescue team buried the body at Mewashah Graveyard after completing the legal formalities.
