Floods: DCs directed to ensure evacuation of katcha area people

HYDERABAD: Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad Jamal Mustafa Syed has directed Deputy Commissioners of the districts along with Indus River for issuance of early warning to the people residing in katcha areas to evacuate and move to safer places immediately.

In his office order, Syed said that there was threat of high flood in Indus River during coming days that might cause losses to the people residing inside of the River bank. He directed the Deputy Commissioners of district Shaheed Benazir Abad, Dadu, Thatta, Matiari, Jamshoro, Hyderabad and Tando Mohammad Khan to assign this task to their relevant Assistant Commissioners, Mukhtiarkars and other local staff for issuance of warning to the people residing inside of bank or under flood threat, through mega phones, village staff and announcements in mosques to evacuate their residential areas and move to safer places immediately.

He also directed Deputy Commissioners that detail of the families willing to live in relief camps might also be collected and sent to him within 24 hours so that necessary arrangements in this regard be made in advance.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Mohammad Nawaz Soho, through his official letter, directed Assistant Commissioners Latifabad, Qasim Abad and Hyderabad rural to issue warning to the people residing in katcha area or under flood threat for evacuation of their places under threat and moving to safer places with immediate effect.
