Four killed, five injured in Karachi violence

KARACHI: Four men were killed and five others injured in separate a hand grenade attack and firing in the city on Friday.

A man, Gafar Kahn, was killed and another, Sher Zaman, was injured in firing by unidentified armed men near old vegetable market in the city. The body and injured were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.

In another incident, a 30-year-old man, Faisal, son of Samiullah, was killed in firing by armed men near Mawach Goth police station in Baldia Town. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.

A man was found dead in a house in Godra area of New Karachi. The body was brought to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for postmortem. The identity of the victim could not be ascertained till filing this news.

Another man was found dead in Korangi Industrial Are. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for an autopsy. The identity of the victim could not be ascertained yet.

Separately, a 35-year-old man, Zafar Iqbal, son of Mohammad Jan, was shot and injured by unidentified men in Buffer Zone. The injured was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.

In other incident, a cop, Aijaz, and a woman were injured when unidentified armed men opened fire outside Kalakot police station in Lyari. The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment.

Two persons sustained wounds when they failed in their attempt to attack a police mobile in Sohrab Goth area. According to police, two armed attackers, who were identified as Abdul Ghaffar, 25, son of Abdul Sattar and Hassan, 25, son of Deen Mohammad, attempted to lob a hand grenade to a police mobile from their van in Sohrab Goth area but failed in their bid and the hand grenade fell near their own vehicle, injuring both of them.

They said that no policeman was injured in the attack and police had arrested both people and shifted them to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment. The police said that accused received minor injuries and they were later brought to police station for further investigation.
