Peshawar: At least four people were killed and 30 injured when a suicide bomber blew him up after terrorists entered in judicial complex located on Khyber Road on Monday.
According to police terrorists tried to enter the courtroom of Additional Sessions Judge Kulsoom Azam. “There were two suicide bombers; one blew himself up while the other was shot by the police,” said Additional IG Masood Afridi. He said that during exchange of fire two four policemen were injured in the attack.
Eyewitnesses said that the suicide attacker entered in the courtroom of Additional Session Judge Kulsoom Azam and blew him up inside. “There were blood and human body parts in the court room. The courtroom was badly damaged in the blast. Judge
Kulsoom Azam is also slightly injured,” a lawyer, who was present on the occasion, told.
Soon after the blast rescue workers and police along with security forces reached the spot and tried to evacuate the building to search other terrorists. The injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital where condition of three is stated to be serious.
Security forces closed down all the routes towards the judicial complex and besiege the building. After three hours the building was cleared. Police said that the attackers were two, one of them succeeded to enter in the judicial complex
while the other was killed in firing.
Police recovered suicide jackets from the body of the suicide who was killed in exchange of fire. Nuts and ball Barings were also attacked with the jacket that was full of explosive.
At the time of the blast huge number of people was present in judicial complex. Beside common people there were lawyers in large number to attend the courts hearing in various cases. It was 2nd attack on the judicial complex as some years back a suicide had attack the judicial complex in which two lawyers and common people were died.
It was believed that due to security arrangements at the main gate the attacker could not enter from the front entrance therefore they use the back door of the complex to enter in the premises of judicial complex.
Meanwhile the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council has announced a strike in protest to the attack.
